Description

These musicians, sometimes featuring the Endigidi playing of Okando Zakiyo, live in the Budaka District, near the town of Budaka, just south of Mbale. This is flatland rice country, and home to Baguare people, apparently the only people to play the seven drum set photographed above. This was part of some field research I did in August of 2017, and was delighted to have them set up and play upon my arrival to their compound down a dirt road after a Mutatu and then a Boda ride through gorgeous country.
